Headrest Privacy Policy

This policy applies to the Headrest desktop app.

General approach to privacy

The general principle for the Headrest app is not to collect any user data. We are taking your privacy seriously and are making an effort to refrain from tracking you when using our app so that we can provide an enhanced privacy experience.

What information we collect?

We are not collecting any specific information related to you or your behaviour while using the app.

We don't use any third party tracking tools, we don't use any ad platforms, social media or other third parties meant to track your behaviour. Also, we don't use any analytics and don't record the way you are using the app because we think you would probably consider that information too intimate to share with us. We don't use any cookies in the app or any similar technology used to track your behaviour.

We will not sell your personal info to third parties, and we will not use your name or company in marketing statements without your permission.

We will not share your data with third parties unless it is essential to keep our service running and we will take all the reasonable steps in order to keep it safe.

Third Parties

Electron (Windows & Linux only)

The Headrest app is using a framework called Electron in order to run as a cross-platform application. This enables us to make the app available on several desktop OSs and even on the Web.

Electron uses Chromium, which is the basis of the Google Chrome browser. This is an open source project and, after doing our due diligence, we believe there is not embedded tracking in these components that would threaten your privacy.

Please note that the macOS version of Headrest does not use Electron.

Others

We do not use any API keys or integrate with any 3rd party explicitly from the Headrest desktop app.

Using the Headrest app

By its nature, the Headrest app makes HTTP(s) requests to the URLs that you ask it to. While it doesn't perform any other requests that you would not be aware of, you should note that the URLs you request while using the app may be under the control of 3rd parties which may track your usage and collect data from you.

Such 3rd parties may be able to track your IP address and retain and use your information based in their own privacy policies.

Headrest cannot be made responsible for such 3rd parties nor can control, understand or predict the way they behave in relation to your data, what they collect or track from your interaction with the HTTP(s) endpoints your are contacting via the Headrest app.

It is your responsibility to make sure you understand and agree with the privacy policies of these 3rd parties before you use them.

Changes to this privacy policy

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting at https://headrest.io/privacy.
